A woman who answered a man she'd never seen with 'I will go,' yet a mother who was ultimately separated from her son forever.
Rebekah grew up as a young woman in Nahor, in Mesopotamia. When Abraham, grown old, sent his servant there, the servant prayed at a well: 'If I say to a young woman, "Please let down your jar that I may drink," and she says, "Drink, and I will water your camels also" — let her be the one you have appointed.' Before the prayer was even finished, a young woman came down to the well with her jar on her shoulder. When the servant asked, she lowered her jar and gave him water, then said, 'I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.' Watering ten camels was hours of labor — a task she did unasked, with her own hands.
That night the servant proposed marriage, and her brother and mother hesitated, wanting to keep her a few more days. Finally they asked her, 'Will you go with this man?' A man she had never seen, a land she had never seen. She answered in one line: 'I will go.' One evening on the road to Canaan, a man out meditating in the fields saw a line of camels approaching — it was Isaac. She got down from her camel and covered herself with a veil, and the servant told Isaac everything. Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent and took her as his wife, and Scripture says he was comforted after his mother's death, through her.
But her life wasn't all glory. After giving birth to the twins Esau and Jacob, she loved Jacob more. When aged Isaac was about to give Esau his final blessing, she had Jacob dress in Esau's clothes and go in to receive it in his place. Jacob got the blessing, but Esau's fury forced Jacob to flee. The son she sent away, telling him to 'hide at your uncle's house for a few days,' she never saw again. The deepest shadow in the life of a decisive woman — her gift for decisive action, in the closest relationships, becoming a fracture in her family.
The woman who drew water for ten camels at the well. She said 'I will go' toward a bridegroom she had never seen, and left.

When her brother and mother try to delay her for a few more days, they ask her, 'Will you go with this man?' She answers in a single line: 'I will go.' A decision to leave for a man she'd never met, a land she'd never seen.
